BaerCoil® Wire Thread Inserts - Type “screw grip" (screw locking)
The “screw grip“ insert has one or more of its intermediate coils deformed polygonally.
This serves to create strong resilient pressure onto the thread flanks of the bolt as it passes throught.
It built in Prevailing Torque of the grip coil positively locks the bolt safeguarding against loosening under vibration or impact.
The pressure is applied between the flanks of the bolt thread so that contact area is maximized.
The locking torques obtained are comparable with the values indicated in standard ISO 2320. To obtain the best performance it is recommended that only good
quality close limit fit, rolled thread, oil lubricated bolts are used.

1.Drilling
Clear the damaged thread with a standard drill.
To repair a spark plug thread no pre-drilling
is necessary if using the special spark plug tap. |
 |
2.Tapping
Use the special BaerCoil taps for cutting the
holding thread into the hole. It is recommended to
use a suitable cutting oil. |
 |
3.Install the insert
Place insert on the installation tool ans position
the adjustable ring so that the insert tang is
centred in the tang slot. Wind the insert with a light
downward pressure until a half turn below the surface.
Don't worl against thread direction as the tang could
break. |
 |
4.Tang removal
Lift the tool from tang, turn tool 90° and tap
down sharply. Use tang break-off tool where supplied.
For bigger sizes and spark plug use a long nose pliers
to remove the tang. |
